After watching recently the Aristotle's Lagoon, a documentary about the first observations of Aristotle's about biology, I would like to refer to just two points.
1. We are full of "national pride", but under the surface, stupidness and darkness reigns the mind. At the end of this documentary (at time ~ 53:45) a Greek shopkeeper nods his head, as he watches the narrator of this documentary passing by in front of him, wondering what a "malakas" guy, the narrator should be. Most Greeks do the same, even between them. May the whole world teach us our history in such a way that our schools never did.
2. The last thing impressed on my mind are the words of Aristotle as they come out of the mouth of the narrator:
"All men, desire to know,
but, not all forms of knowledge are equal
the best is the pure and disinterested search for the causes of things.
Searching for them is the best way to spend a life."
- Aristotle
